Bigger Pipework for Bigger Performance
Milltek’s Large-Bore Downpipe is built with a 63.5 mm pipe diameter, significantly larger than the restrictive factory unit. This enlarged bore allows exhaust gases to exit the engine far more efficiently, reducing back-pressure and improving turbo less throttle response in naturally aspirated R50/R52 engines as well as supercharger flow on the R53 Cooper S and JCW.
When paired with a de-cat, the system eliminates catalytic restriction entirely, unlocking significant increases in horsepower and torque — particularly at higher RPM where exhaust flow demand is greatest. This option provides the most aggressive performance gains; however, a de-cat pipe is not suitable for road use and is intended strictly for off-road or track-only applications.
For drivers seeking improved performance for the road, Milltek also offers a high flow 200 cell sports cat section. This upgraded catalyst dramatically improves gas flow compared with the restrictive OEM catalytic converter, allowing exhaust gases to flow more freely. The result is better throttle response, more power and a greater sound.
