Vibra-Technics Upper Engine Mount - Gen 1 12/2003 - 07/2006
The right hand engine mount is a well-known weakness on the MINI Cooper S, in particular the later (post 07/2004) oil-filled mounts. Engine mounts absorb vibrations creating a smoother ride, but tend to deteriorate over time causing vibrations in the cabin. The oil-filled mounts, in particular, can also leak reducing the effectiveness of the mount. You may notice this by finding dark, oily fluid residue around the hydraulic mount and on the chassis leg.
Vibra-Technics has designed an engine mount that is a direct replacement for the OEM part. Significantly more durable than the original mount using high strength welded steel and a fast road/track use rubber, it will reduce engine movement in all directions whilst still giving good isolation from noise, vibration and harshness.
Which mount is suitable for my MINI: Road/Race?
Road version: Suitable for fast road use and occasional track use, this is due to the rubber in the mounts being carefully adjusted to isolate vibrations lower down the rev range and at idle speeds.
Race version: Suitable for track only, this is due to the rubber compound used being stiffer to control movement when on track. Track systems have an isolation threshold above 3000rpm, below which the transmitted vibration can still be quite high.
